THE ROXY MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA

(This is a profile shot of The Roxy Theater. If you notice on the right corner there is a mural, it's kind of hard to miss.)

I remember being amped up for this investigation the entire week. It was a pretty exciting feel knowing what could possibly lie ahead. That in just a few days I would begin officialy in my dream career. I am always up for a talk on the paramormal and going out to a location. As long as I have the free time and money.

At approximately 5:45 PM on Saturday June 2nd, 2012 me, Tena, and BJ piled into John's car and headed out. We started the drive talking about the video cameras on the stop lights and the conspiracies behind them. Then John, BJ, and I began adamantly swapping experiences. Which in turn led to John and BJ showing off their EVP's. Which if you ever have the opportunity to investigate with John, you will realize how strong of a knack he has for EVP's. Tena and John explained to BJ and I about Boosty their residential ghost. Recently John and I are toying with idea that Boosty came from my house or Ken Boyer's property next door to me. We think this because John had never come in contact with Boosty until after his investigation at my house. We still haven't confirmed this. John plans on doing another Ghost Box session to see if there's any truth in it.

We made a quick pit stop in Seminole county at the Shell station there. So we could take a bathroom break and to grab some eaterings. While we were there I encountered some hitch hiking Bohemian Hipsters trying to make it to the last day of Rocklahoma in Pryor. I don't know if they ever made it, hopefully while playing 'Who looks the safest', they didn't wind up in a scenario similar to a horror film.

At seven o'clock on the dot we made it to The Roxy theater. I was super excited to meet Cathy, Dawn, and a few others for the first time. I also began to start my feeling out process before entering the theater. I really didn't get anything except for a hug from Cathy and Dawn. Yet after entering The Roxy I slowly began to feel what I call my "Dezzy Sense". Where my abdomen on up begins feeling tingly. I seperated from the group to do a personal tour, winding up in the stage area, and totally fixated at the ceiling. What struck me as odd was the ceiling in the main seating. It wasn't flat with sound pockets or domed. Instead it was pointed, triangular waves with sound pockets. At the time I thought I was fascinated with it because of it's oddity. Looking back now after the sensations I received, I realize I was picking up somebody's great dislike of it.

Around this point I had to sit down. My upper body had one massive electric current running through it. Almost like being electroshocked yet without the pain and my ears felt as if they were about to pop. This is when I met Oscar Ray a local celebrity. Oscar is known for short films, and various other projects. He inquired about what I was feeling, while Leif with MuskogeeNow.com who was behind me, used what I was feeling as an update. I believe he quoted everyone else correctly, but took a few things Cathy said out of context. When reporting you should record what your subject is saying so that you can quote them verbatim. Not assume that you are by bits and pieces that you choose to hear. Selective hearing can get you in trouble from some interviews.
I believe the oddest thing about Leif is he freely gushed about being a Free Mason and divulged alot of loose bits of information. I know a few Free Masons personally and from my understanding being a Free Mason is like being in Fight Club. The contenders aren't allowed to talk about Fight Club. I am hoping that Leif doesn't cause personal chaos for himself within the fraternal order.

Shortly after having a discusiion with Oscar about "Not really knowing people" and the tragic story of his friend's inner demons. I made my way upstairs to see what some of the members were up to. They were mainly setting up the equipment in the soundboard area upstairs or having a look around. I had a woman who worked for the city and who was watching the investigation open a locked door which we wedged open with a metal pipe. The room was apart of the third floor hidden seating and beyond that was the projector room. The third floor hidden seating was stifling hot because it had no air conditioning. It was also thickly coated in dust. Christian, Dawn, John, Tena, and Bj met me up there. We continued our base readings and looking for hidden areas. While searching for hidden nooks and crannies in the projector room, I found a chain running along the ceiling and disappearing into the wall. Everyone else was just as curious as I was and had me pull it. When pulled the chain opened up the air ducts and there was a hook in the wall to hook the chain to. So that you could keep the ventilation open. I also found a dumb waiter that was used to haul up film to the projector room instead of lugging it up countless stairs.

I joined Cathy and Oscar in a discussion about the after life and Oscar's first paranormal experiences. After listening to Oscar talk and seeing how he expresses himself. I realized that Oscar is an enjoyable person to be around. He gets down on your level while still being real and himself. He is very intelligent, articulate, and attentive. After swapping personal theories on time travel, akashic records (ironically one of the Free Mason's idealogies), and the goings on of the after life. We went outside to do a photo shoot manned by Oscar. Oscar set us up and us pose underneath The Roxy's neon sign. What was even cooler was that there was a full moon that night. Although Oscar got some beautiful shots, a couple of members were cut out.

(From left to right: Dawn Caban, Destiny Gonzalez, John Longan, Cathy Nance, BJ Riggs, and Christian Borthick)

We then went inside and took a few pictures on stage. Which in this one we managed to get all of the members thankfully. I think I look fat, I don't like this picture too much.

After the photo shoot was completed our team of eight split into two groups of four. John, Tena, Bj, and I were on one team. Cathy, Chris, Dawn, and Marc were on the other. Our team was given the upstairs section, while the other team was given the downstairs section. We went into the the third floor hidden seating and asked the basic questions while John used the real time recorder. During the EVP session John captured the voices of a female and male in their late teens or early twenties. I had asked them if they knew that they were dead and on real time they responded with the female first saying, "Yeah." And then the male saying, "Yeah." What is even more creepy is that in one of the photos taken by a Muskogee Reporter. There are two faces to the right of Tena belonging to a man and woman. Also above Tena's head there is a face.

(This is the picture with the three faces. You can see Tena sitting and Oscar filming behind her. BJ and I are there, but we were doing an EVP session at the time. This picture was also on the MuskogeeNow website, you can find that article here: http://muskogeenow.com/story.php?id=2371 )

One of the main things about the third floor hidden seating are the metal rafters above. When we first entered the room there was no sound coming from up there until after a few moments of being up there. BJ and I tried to come up with a scientific explanation for that. Was it birds? Squirrels? Mice or rats? Wind? Street traffic? Nothing added up though, the noise didn't start until you entered the room, and stopped as soon as you left.

I decided to break off from the group and head into the projector room to see what I could get on the K2. Other than the Ghost Box, I am in love with the K2. During the time John was having complications with the Ghost Box. He was in the projector room trying his damnedest to get it to work. I walked around trying to communicate with something because other than the craziness in the rafters, and the real time recorder. We really had nothing so far. I didn't manage to get anything up there. John had left and went to Walmart. BJ had left and as I was heading down the stairs to the third floor hidden seating Tena was leaving. But before she left the K2 went crazy, all the lights lit up, and then began jumping around. I told her to hurry and get BJ or John. It was 30 seconds later when BJ came in and I told him what was happening. He and I sat down and began asking questions. We were told that the spirit had been there since The Roxy was built, that they were between fifteen and twenty years old. Also that there are ten spirits at The Roxy. Which could be quite possible, since it was built in 1948. During that session I began feeling tingly again and after the session as I walked off I felt something rub my arm which only intensified the sensation.

BJ and I decided to take a quick bathroom break. When we came back we received a hit on the K2 in nearly the same area as the first one on the steps leading to the projector room. John and Tena came back in. Around that time whoever was talking to us wanted me alone in the backroom of the projector room. Everyone else gave the thumbs up and so I went. As soon as I sat down I felt something enter the room, take a few steps, and sit down. It didn't want to talk on the K2, and opted for knocking on the wall. Tena didn't want me by myself so she came in and stood in the corner. I asked that since The Roxy was built during the segragation era if it liked "colored people". It didn't respond. I asked if it disliked them. It responded with a loud thud. I asked if Oscar's presence bothered it. It responded with another knock. I then proceeded to ask. Do you want Oscar to leave? It knocked in answer to the question. Since I was getting physical responses to questions I asked for it to show itself. A few seconds later an orb about the size of a golf ball that was white and shimmery appeared. In the area it appeared there was an audible bang on the pipe in the corner. As if it were confirming that it was there.

We decided to take another break. As I was exiting the bathroom I heard what sounded like a man clearing his throat. I asked some of the guys in the hall if they made a similar sound. They told me "NO" that they hadn't. As I made my way into the third floor hidden seating, I heard the clearing of the voice again. It almost reminded me of the old time movies of the movie usher's getting a patron's attention. Or a waiter getting a diner's attention. There was nobody there except for BJ and he was way up in the seating. We got some activity on the K2 just confirming that they were there, but nothing else on that. We did get them to cool us down, they liked touching BJ's head, BJ's hand, and blowing in his face. We killed the flash lights, and had shadows darting around in the rafters. The light anomaly appeared again this time in the seating area. The activity began to dramatically decrease for us. So BJ told them, "if you can make three lights light up then Destiny and I will leave." Sure enough three lights sparked to life. On the way down the aisle to the door it grew gradually colder as if we were being escorted to the door. By the time we reached the door it was cold enough for a coat.

By the time BJ and I got downstairs Oscar was ready to do individual interviews for his documentary. I took Speech and Drama in High School, I have goofed off with friends who had camcorders, and etc. But I have never been in a serious setting where I was going to tell the world who I am and what I do. I am a very social person, as well as a very intimately, personal person. I don't like talking about my sensitivity at length, I feel like it makes me look like an attention seeker. I would rather keep my mouth shut than seem like I want lime light. So all in all I can only describe being interviewed as 'NEW'.

After Oscar wrapped up the interviews. Our teams switched places, Cathy, Chris, Dawn, and Marc took the upstairs area of the theater. While John, Tena, BJ, and I took the stage area. That whole area from the stage to the dressing rooms was just eerie. From my stand point as a sensitive, I felt like I was being shoved into a tiny box. Almost like a box made of pressurized air and electricity. We tried to do a Ghost Box session in the far back dressing room, but the air conditioner made it completely impossible. So we decided to go to the back of the stage. In that area behind the curtain all felt uneasy. On the way to the stage I saw a grey mist go into the bathroom. I had who I believe to be Matthew repeating the Barber Shop knock on the metal sheet hanging from the wall. Although BJ and Tena couldn't hear it. I heard it plain as day. We communicated with an entity who called himself Matthew. He said that there were ten of them there. He confirmed what we were told earlier on the K2.

We only had a handful of time left and went into the first dressing room. I will be completely honest everyone hated it, but I LOATHED it. I was on edge the entire time, I couldn't relax, I couldn't stay still. I felt like an animal pacing in a cage. It felt like it was emanating from the bathroom. I tried to walk in the bathroom, but it felt like an invisible wall. It felt like if I tried to force myself through that I would be attacked. So I left it alone. I began wondering if anything inhuman was there. So I asked, "is there anything inhuman?" Everytime I asked Matthew said, "Yes." Everytime I asked if it was demonic, our equipment wouldn't work.

Just to let you know. We come to a location with an intense seriousness about getting a job done. Yet if someone or a group of someone's has set themselves up, we can't help, but take advantage of this. It is a golden moment. A complete free for all. Chris was that very opportunist that night. He waited until we were on that edge of your seat moment to see if our inhuman was a demonic. Not a word I use lightly. We heard a scratching, almost like metal grating against stone. We were a ball of tangible excitement. We asked for it to do it again as a confirmation. Of course we heard the sound again. BJ and I being the analytical people we are were rounding the corner to see what was in the hall. When Chris jumps out with a flash light under his chin like a Camp Counselor at a camp out. He yelled as he bounded in, "Time is up!" Of course we all screamed, even the men shouted. Although I believe BJ would have used me as a human shield if it wasn't Chris and it was an unimaginable from the fifth dimension.

Everyone gathered on the stage for a quick Ghost Box Session which was sensational. Not only did Matthew come through, what I am going to label the "dark energy" came through. A female told John, "I love you." What took the cake was Boosty. John's residential spirit followed him from Oklahoma City all the way to Muskogee. Boosty told us "Hi", called John his "ni**a", that he was "gettin high" with The Roxy's spirits, and told us to "stay cool" when we wrapped up.

In all honesty I felt like a horrible person. Before we wrapped up the Ghost Box session Matthew was begging and pleading for us not to leave him there with the "bad thing". That he wanted to leave. With it being a public place there is not much we could do for him. Although I pray for him on aregular basis and that he will find peace someday if he hasn't already.

Before we left I had a talk with Amy Lynn the city worker who was excited that I confirmed her experiences with my own. I felt really good in that moment that I could help someone like that. To have them know that they are not alone, that they have someone else out there who understands.

After packing everything back up into our vehicles like a magic trick. We all went to the local Denny's and shared what we had individually experienced. Exchanged other personal experiences. We weren't there for more than ten minutes when Cathy heard a whisper from an empty section of the dining area. We finished shoveling food in our faces and then went our seperate ways.

Of course on the way home with John, BJ, and Tena it was nonstop conversation until we hit the storm on the way back to the city.

All I can say is that I really enjoyed myself and can't wait to do it again.
