MY FIRST TIME AT BLACK BEAR CHURCH
I had never been to Black Bear Church in Olive Township, but I have heard many stories about it. I have heard stories of strange noises, shadow people, robed creatures, phantom cars, lights, physical attacks (namely shoving and biting)and disembodied voices. I have heard these accounts from personal friends, online, and other sources.
The night I did the collaboration with Bob Sorg, Chris Borthick, and Logan Corelli at Enid Cemetery. Logan Corelli took me there afterwards just to show me it. It is on your way to Enid while taking 81.
On the way there it was 2 AM and the sky was pitch black, there were massive storm clouds that were darker than the sky, and an extreme lightning display. Practically the perfect atmosphere for a place with such a twisted history and bizarre activity. It was like being on the set of a horror movie. **I can imagine the set up like this:
"Two friends who are paranormal investigators ,were heading out for a thrill on an abandoned road. They were on their way to a haunted location where occult practices have occured. After they arrived, they were never seen again. This is the true story of what people speculated happened to them."
It will be a box office smash and blow Paranormal Activity out of the water. Mike Ricksecker will write a movie review for it on Examiner.com**
Anyways....(still laughing) we turned off of 81 and began heading down the road. There was nothing but empty open fields, trees, trees, and more trees. Another thing about the storm it wasn't around us, but behind us. Almost as if the area had its own weather. Even after leaving, the storm never headed in that direction.
We get there and Logan parks in front of it. We never get out of the car, we just sit there, and look at it. The church is almost in complete ruins, nature is overtaking it, and the land is overgrown. The cemetery across the street is fully maintained. I sensed something there, but it kept out of mental reach of me.
Nothing happened on the way there, or while we were there. Although on the way back....we get to the first intersection and there is a dip in the road. The car's shadow fills the dip, and I see something darker than the shadow. On its hands and knees crawl across the street and into the tree line.
Then after we get back on 81 and go down the road when this tall, slender shadow person. That is taller than the car, with long, bushy hair walks across the road, and disappears into an empty field.
Logan looks at me and says, "Did you see that? What the fuck was that thing?" I was speechless.
It almost seems like they roam all over that abandoned country side, and then congregate in Black Bear church.
This place is a definite must go for me.
ENID CEMETERY
This was a joint investigation of three different teams. I and Logan's group (Logan Corelli and I) , Christian Borthick's group (Chris, Logan Vukusich, and Dustin Cupit), and Bob Sorg's group (Bob, Nancy Rahm, Ehteena Stotts). We also had the cemetery's curator with us and her male companion. The whole focus of this investigation was the mausoleum, although we did get activity elsewhere in the cemetery itself.
Bob's group has been there before, they have gotten EVP's, disembodied whimpering, and K2 hits. They arrived at 9 PM, and already had some equipment out. They had the ovelis running, the thermal gun, and the K2 out. They were receiving activity from three of the headstones in front and to the right of the mausoleum. Mainly from a spirit called "Pete" who followed Ehteena everywhere saying her name on the Ghost Box.
Logan and I arrived at 10 PM, after having a lovely time with Logan's GPS, and consulting his Atlas. Because the directions seemed a bit off, yet we still managed to get there. When we were 17 miles away from the location (was looking at the GPS), I began to feel something. When we were 2 miles away, it felt like I was being jabbed in the stomach. When we reached the cemetery and I got out it instantly felt like we had a thousand eyes on us. It was almost like everybody in the cemetery was in attendance for the event. I also automatically picked up on the names "Ann Margaret, and Frank". Also alot of the spirits seemed to enjoy Bob and Nancy's company. While walking the stairs up to the door I was greeted by a disembodied, and husky, "Hey!".
Chris' team showed up at about 10:30-11PM, that is when the curator unlocked the mausoleum for us, and we began heading inside. When we entered I had a sense of peace, and lonliness. I didn't feel anything harmful at all. There were still pews out for a memorial service that had been held there not long ago. You could still feel the lingering emotions. We sat down in the pews and began doing a ghost box session. I have heard alot of spirits trying to speak at once on a ghost box, but the amount trying to come through was intense. I can't count how many times I had to tell them to "take turns" so we can hear.
We kept getting a man coming through who sounded perpetually frustrated, a woman named Anna, a man named Victor, and a little girl named Amanda. I also kept getting my right ankle grabbed by something with a strong grip and it was extremely cold. Ehteena kept putting the thermal gun on my ankle and was getting some amazing hits. Before we left for the basement we got Pete saying on the ghost box, "husband Ehteena's husband." Which spurred on going jokes for the rest of the night. I also told Amanda that we were going to go down to the basement and play games. Before I hit the final step in the basement, you could hear Amanda on the ghost box saying, "Will you please play with me?".
Mainly the activity we got in the basement of the mausoleum was on the ghost box, and we got the temperature gun to change colors a few times, also the mag light went on once.
We then ventured outside and I went walking on my own. Which I always do so I can communicate one on one with the spirits at the location. I walked through the graveyard saying, "We are not here to harm you in anyway. We are only here to communicate, and to prove to people that there is a life after death. To prove that you still exist, and to show people that you still matter." This confused one male spirit. He told me, "But we all go away in the end." So I replied, "Yes death is inevitable, it comes to us all, but that doesn't mean it is the end. All of you are proof to that." I am also very respectful and courteous especially in graveyards. If I step on a fresh mound or flat headstone, I say that I am sorry. I also ask permission before I sit down, and then thank them for their time. I accidentally stepped on a fresh grave while walking, and instantly heard someone say, "Becareful."
I came back and asked Ehteena if she would like to walk with me, and this time we brought the ghost box with us. We were walking and I asked, "Should we go straight, or go right?" We hear one spirit say, "Left", and another say, "straight". So we went to the left of the path, and kept going straight.
After awhile the curator asked if we could do a session at her son's grave. Her son was murdered on his motorcycle at the age of 27. We didn't get much, only, "Hey, mom, and Daniel". Although as we were heading to his grave, Logan C. saw two shadow figures come from the left of the mausoleum, and disappear.
Before we left Ehteena and I walked to the outside building where they hold the funerals. We went to the backdoor first, and I did the "shave and a hair cut" knock. Something on the other side of the door finished the knock. We decided to go to the front door, and do a scenario because it was about to storm. I knocked on the door, and said, "Excuse me. Can we come in? Its cold out and its about to pour down rain. Can you give us shelter?"
Suddenly you could see the curtain move, but that was it. It was almost like somebody looked outside and decided not to let us in. Hopefully we can investigate that building next time.
We all headed back to the mausoleum to grab our stuff, and say our goodbyes. As I was exiting, I heard a man call up from the basement, "Goodbye."
I can't wait to head back sometime.

ARAPAHO CEMETERY-PART TWO
Bob Sorg (Director of 81 Group) and I had been planning for weeks about going out to Arapaho. Bob did not go out with us the last time we had went, and was very interested in the prospective activity. As I have said before in my last blog article about this location, "Anybody who goes will not leave disappointed." So I had asked Logan Corelli if he would care to join us on our investigation. I also had asked Meagan Chatley and Brittney Smith if they would like to as well since they went last time. Brittney and Meagan weren't able to go due to having family visiting them. It ended up being me, Logan, Bob, and Bob's friend Nancy Rahm (also a member of 81 Group) who went. We decided to meet in El Reno and then head out from there.
When we got to the cemetery it was still daylight and we were the only ones there besides a man visiting the grave of his daughter. We decided to just walk around a bit and get Bob and Nancy more acquainted to their surroundings. I began to feel some spirits I had spoken to the first time as we made our rounds. Especially Maggie and William (who insists on being called Bill) continued to follow me. Several times that night I kept feeling Bill behind me, looking over my shoulder, and it got so annoying. It was even more annoying when Bill's head kept brushing against my ear when he would look over my shoulder. What is also annoying is I can physically feel a spirit's presence, and hear them speak, but I can't see them unless they want me to. So imagine feeling somebody behind you (body against body) and then feel pressure on your shoulder from them looking over it, and then feel almost like hair brush against your ear when they turn their head......yet you can't SEE them. It would get severely annoying, would it not? I kept turning in circles waiting to see a man behind me, but to no avail. It was like trying to catch the coat tails of the invisible man.
Maggie was there too but she kept her distance because she was unsure of Bob and Nancy. She kept asking me about them, and what they wanted. I had to keep reassuring her about them and that they meant her no harm. Maggie also went on to say that the other spirits are getting weary because it seems like everytime we come back that we are bringing more and more people. I had to reassure her then to that we would try to keep the people to a minimum.
When Bob first tuned on the Ghost Box the first thing to come through was the sounds of a piano followed by several spirits saying Bob's name. Then we began getting a handful of spirits asking us why we were there and that we needed to take our business elsewhere. Through out the night we got all sorts of things to come through. Ranging from mechanical noises (which a spirit indentified as the protectors speaking), a vintage bicycle bell, piana, snare drum, violin, having our names said, and so on.
The last time I went Cathy didn't get out much equipment so almost all of what we got was sensory phenomena. But Bob busted out alot of fun things (sounds naughty, huh?) and we managed to interact with Robina Smith, her father G.W. Smith, and her cousin Evelyn Maloy. It was funny because when we put Bob's Ghost Box on Evelyn's grave, and I sat down in front of her headstone. I heard this loud woman's voice come through, "Maloy!" We heard George several times crying out, "Robina! Robina! My sweet Robina!" Robina talked some on the Ghost Box, but she preferred using the lights to speak. Evelyn was more prevalent than both of them, speaking constantly through the Ghost Box, and with the lights.
During our grave side visit with Robina, George, and Evelyn I kept getting the sensation of being pulled, and feeling restless. So I decided to follow whatever was tugging at me. I was led quite a bit away from the group and I began seeing a red orb that was fiery and bigger than my fist. I asked it if it wanted me to follow it, it grew brighter and began leading me past headstones. Suddenly I realized it was leading me to the road, and I stopped. If you know anything about Arapaho Cemetery the road is where "The Protectors" are and I was not about to head out there alone. I told the orb, "I will follow you anywhere you wish to guide me in the cemetery, But I refuse to go out onto the road." So I followed it in loops around the cemetery and finally it began heading out to the road again. So I decided to turn around and make my way back to the group. Which when I got back to Robina's grave they weren't there and had moved to a different spot.
They were at the grave of a woman named Pearl and a confederate soldier was buried next to her. Pearl was greatly fascinated with the equipment, but she also felt like we were being intrusive, and that we should leave. I kept getting the feeling of being shoved, and Bill told me to leave her alone. So I went exploring by myself again and stumbled upon a grave I didn't see during our last visit. It was closed off and had a tall pillar. I went inside the boxed in area and looked at the headstone. It had the Free Mason symbol on it and was slowly falling apart. The names on it were weather worn but readable. It was the grave of Joseph and Eliza Crippen. While studying the massive headstone I found a massive chunk of it laying on the ground. As soon as I picked it up I heard a woman's voice say, "Take it." I told her that I wouldn't feel right taking it, and set it down. Then I went in search of the group.
Bob, Logan, and Nancy were still at Pearl's grave and as I was approaching and they told me that a spirit was asking for me by name. I said hello and then we said our goodbyes then decided to go to Joseph and Eliza's grave. After we set up I decided to ask about the rock since we had the Ghost Box over there. I asked, "Do you want me to still take the rock?" I heard a woman say, "Yes". I asked, "Are you sure?" I heard a man say, "No." Then I told them, "I am confused. Can I have the rock or not?" Bob got an EVP of a woman who we all heard at the time, exclaim really loudly, "Take it!"
So I took the rock and told them thank you. Then we said our goodbyes and decided to go back to Robina's grave before saying our goodbyes.
We didn't talk much to Robina it was mostly Evelyn again. She told us that the Protectors would be paying us a visit and that they do not care whether they have permission or not. Which Bob wasn't too happy to hear. Also Maggie wasn't too thrilled that I was leaving again and insisted that I stay. I told her that I couldn't stay, but I would come back and visit. She told me "Goodbye" on the Ghost Box. I feel sort of bad that I didn't actually visit Maggie's grave while there, but I couldn't find it. I stumbled upon it by accident the last time we were there.
It is kind of weird to say it, but I have friends at that cemetery now Maggie, Bill, and apparenty Eliza. I will be sure to visit them each and every time we go there.
(This is the rock that I was given that was apart of the Crippen headstone. I know the writing is crappy, but you try being a calligrapher with a crayola marker on a bumpy, curcy surface. I have been keeping it on top of my fridge, so in case it gives me any activity, it will be in the focal point of my home.)
